Mom To Mom: You Need To Hear This.
Written By Courtney Boylan, Founder of Le Lolo
I keep finding myself saying this, but it’s the only way I know how to express the gap between what I thought motherhood was, and what it actually is. Before becoming a mom, I was so naïve to what the word really meant.
You always hear, “It’s the hardest job you’ll ever have.” But as a woman without kids, I didn’t really understand what “hard” meant in that context. And honestly, I don’t think anyone really can until they’ve lived it. Because motherhood isn’t just hard, it’s hard in a way that’s rooted in love.
I thought I knew love. I was obsessed with my dog and head over heels in love with my nephew when he was born, and I thought nothing could top that. But when I had my own babies, I realized that love runs so much deeper than I ever imagined. It’s overwhelming, consuming, and world-shifting in the most beautiful way.
Yes, motherhood is hard. But more than that, it’s life-changing, rewarding, soul-stretching, and full of tiny moments that crack your heart wide open. Like when my kids look at me with wide, trusting eyes. When they kiss me on the cheek, hug me from behind, or whisper “I love you, Mama” just because. When my 5-year-old calls me his queen (😂) or my 3-year-old says “you’re the best mama in the world!”—these are the moments I live for.
There is truly nothing stronger or more secure than a mother’s love. It’s irreplaceable. You are irreplaceable.
So today, I hope you take a moment to soak in just how incredible you are. You are a warrior. A nurturer. A life-giver. A world-builder. The most important person in your child’s universe.
Happy Mother’s Day.
There is no greater blessing, no greater calling, and no more powerful title on this planet than “Mother.”
With love,
Courtney
