7 Simple Tips For Mamas to Help Crush Any Goal!

Hey Mama!

We’re 3 weeks into the new year! How’s it going so far? Are you feeling like, “New year, new me!”—or more like, “How is it still January?!” Honestly, I get it. January is the longest month ever (seriously, why does it feel like 45 days long?). But hey, we made it this far—give yourself some credit for that!

My crew is back in school (minus a couple of snow days because Maryland delivered a solid 6 inches last week—BRRRR, it’s still icy out there). I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the return to routine after Winter Break. I’ll admit, I was dreading it a little. Winter Break = chaos, right? Out of routine, my 5-year-old bouncing off the walls, my 3-year-old mastering the art of whining, family everywhere…you get it.

But this year, I decided to try something new. Instead of dwelling on the hard stuff, I focused on the good. And guess what? It worked. We had a Winter Break filled with so many sweet memories—no one got sick (a literal miracle!), and somehow the time just flew by.

So, now I’m popping into your inbox to check in on those 2025 Mama Goals! How are they going? Crushing them? On pause? Maybe you haven’t even started yet? Wherever you are, it’s okay. It’s all part of the process. Just remember Dory’s wise words: “Just keep going, just keep going.”

And because I know we all need a little boost sometimes, here are a few of my go-to tips for staying on track (or getting back on it).

Wake Up 30 Minutes Earlier
I know, I know—sounds impossible when you’re already running on fumes. But hear me out: 30 minutes of quiet before the house wakes up can change your whole day. Whether it’s sipping hot coffee, jotting down a few goals, or just soaking up the silence, it’s your time. Pro tip: Put your phone across the room before bed so you actually get up when the alarm goes off. Future you will be so thankful.

Start Small: 10 Minutes Is Enough
You don’t need an hour to make progress. Just 10 minutes can work wonders. A quick stretch, a journal entry, or a couple of deep breaths—it all adds up. Start small. You’ll be surprised by what you can accomplish in little pockets of time.

Consistency NOT Perfection
This is a biggie. Some days, things will fall apart. The dishes might pile up, laundry might stay in “Mount Foldmore,” and your goals might feel out of reach. That’s okay. The key is showing up, even when it’s messy. Progress, not perfection, always.

Books for the Soul (or Podcasts if You’re Exhausted)
Finding time to read can feel impossible (hello, tiny humans clinging to you at all times). But books have been such a lifeline for me. Here are my 3 faves:
  • How Are You Really by Jenna Kutcher
  • You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
  • Atomic Habits by James Clear

And if reading feels like too much, podcasts are a lifesaver. Law of Attraction Changed My Life is one of my faves that focuses on gratitude no matter what stage of life you are in, and I literally LOL every time I listen to it—start from the beginning, she’s hilarious (and a mom who used nipple shields, what are the chances?!) So good!

Find Your Accountability Buddy
Motherhood can feel isolating, but you don’t have to do it alone. My sister is my ride-or-die accountability partner, and let me tell you, it makes all the difference. We live on opposite sides of the country, (me: Maryland, her: Oregon) but we still do workout series together and hold one another accountable for getting up and moving! (ever tried Caroline Girvan’s free YouTube workouts?! KILLER!) Having someone in your corner truly helps keep the motivation alive.

You Are What You Tell Yourself
Here’s the truth: self-doubt will creep in. It just does. But when it does, remind yourself of this: you are strong, capable, and absolutely worthy of your dreams. Speak kindly to yourself, Mama. Replace “I can’t” with “I’m learning” and “I’m failing” with “I’m growing.” Your words matter—choose ones that lift you up.

Your Kids Are Watching
This one gets me every time. Those little eyes are watching everything we do. They see us trying. They see us showing up. And they’re learning resilience, grit, and self-love from us. When you work toward your goals, no matter how big or small, you’re not just shaping your future—you’re showing your kids what’s possible.

I know this season is no joke. Some days, it feels like you’re being pulled in a hundred directions, barely keeping your head above water. You’re giving so much of yourself to your family, and it’s easy to forget that you deserve some of that love and care too.

These tips aren’t here to add more to your plate—they’re just little reminders that it’s okay to pause and take a minute for yourself. Because the truth is, when you feel good, everything else starts to feel a little more manageable.
